Joe, Bridget and I took our local finds out to the rocks along the Mediterranean for a picnic. A sailing competition occured on our right, and swimmers splashed around on our left. Bridget threw her clothes off to dip in the crisp blue sea. Jealous and upset for forgetting my suit, I contemplated jumping in regardless. Of course, my friends encouraged me to skinny dip. I searched for stabilization and privacy before I yelled at Joe to look away and took the plunge.
After swimming around for half an hour, I used my new scarf to cover myself as I put on my underwear to drip-dry for a bit. Although I have gained some weight and losing the once-valued swimmer’s body, I remained comfortable. Skinny dipping in the French Riviera in broad daylight gave me the confidence that my body is still beautiful and strong, even after a few months of European culinary indulgences.
